Horizontal Pulse Jet Filter type HF

Structure and Operation

Horizontal pulse jet filters type HF consists of the following main subassemblies:

  • purified air chamber,
  • filtering chamber,
  • filter bags assembly with cages,
  • chute with a screw conveyor or a rotary valve,
  • wiring system with a control filter scanner.

The purified air chamber is rectangular. The rear part of the chamber is connected with a screen plate and the filtering chamber. The front part of the chamber as an opened manhole used for placement of cages, filter bags and blow-off pipes to the filter. There is a pure air outlet on the side wall of the chamber. The chamber is equipped with blow-off pipes (disassemble during bags exchange), a compressed air collector, and solenoid valves. The compressed air collector gathers dehydrated and de-oiled air intended for bag regeneration. Compressed airflow for regeneration goes from the collector through solenoid valves and blow-off pipes (with nozzles before each bag).

The filtering chamber is rectangular. There are inspection door in the chamber located opposite to the purified air chamber door. Cages with filter bags are located inside the chamber. There are supports on which cage ends are supported in the rear part of the filtering chamber.

The assembly of filter bags with cages is mounted in the screen sheet between the purified air chamber and the filtering chamber. Filter bags are mounted in openings of the screen sheet using expanding rings, also referred to as “snaprings.” Filter cages are place inside the bags. Cages and filter bags are shaped like a lens section, which ensures increased filtration surface and easier dust removal from bag surface during the regeneration process.

The chute is pyramidal or prismatic. It may be single or double. The chute ends with the screw conveyor and rotary valve that are driven by gear-motors. The screw conveyor is used for transporting drop-off dust to the chamber feeder that removes dust outside the filter.

The wiring system consists of a control filter scanner and cables that connect the control filter scanner with solenoid valves for filter bags regeneration.

Operation of horizontal pulse jet filter type HF

Vitiated air is fed to an expansion chamber in the filtering chamber. Then, vitiated air goes through filter bags. Dust remains on the outside surface of bags. Purified air goes through filter bags to the purified air chamber and then is discharged outside of the filter. As time goes by, thickness of dust cover on bags increases. Dust is removed from bags by compressed air pulses directed to each bag. Compressed air pulse is generated by a solenoid valve controlled from the control filter scanner. The valve opens for a very short period of time and compressed air from the collector goes as a pulse into blow-off pipes from which it reaches Venturi nozzles through openings located over each bag. The generated compressed air pulse is strengthened in the nozzle and goes forth as an air wave along the bag resulting in its bulging and dust drop-off. Dust falls down to the chute and then is removed outside the filter via the screw conveyor and rotary valve.

Regeneration of filter bags of horizontal pulse jet filters type HF is operated by the following types of control filter scanners:

  • with time control in which the pulse duration and regeneration frequency are set up,
  • with Δp control in case of which filter bag regeneration depends on resistance of air flow through filter bags.

Filter bag regeneration takes place successively via individual rows without switching off the filter. Regeneration frequency and pulse duration are set up in a control filter scanner.
